Tuesday Tales and Who's Your Bro-Daddy?

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers and Happy June to all in the cyberhood.  I don't know about you, but, I cannot believe this will be the halfway mark of 2014. Today, our Tuesday Tales group is writing, belatedly, to the word prompt, "father" this week. Once again, I'm pleased to return you to my new WIP, the Fantasy Leagues....Book One - Multiple Scorgasms.
Today, we find Coach Lola in tender situation. Take a peek:

Marty smiled and reached for my hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed each finger gently. “Lola, we have spectacular times. I feel it…you feel it.”

“Okay, we agree on that then.”

Marty dropped my hand softly and grimaced. He actually grimaced. “Once a month is not nearly enough. Even during that once a month, we only scratch the surface of each other’s lives. I have no idea what you do eighty percent of the time. I might know less than that. Now that we decided to put dad in a home, I want more of a personal life. I want you more than once a month. I want to be your boyfriend. I’m getting older Lola, it’s time for me to have a family of my own.”

“Family? What the hell, Marty? You’re springing shit on me from all directions.” I had no idea what to process first. None of this was fair.

“I gotta tell you…I, I love you, Lola. But, I want to be a father someday. I want to be the dad my old man never was.”

My hands automatically covered my stomach. Just thinking about kids made me cringe and my guts twist into knots.

“Just like that Lola. I saw that. You covered your stomach. I know you have a scar there. But, I’ve never asked you what happened. That’s the rule, we don’t talk about that kind of stuff. It’s against the rules.”

“It was a surgery when I was a teenager.” I mumbled, still rubbing away the phantom pains as I watched those two scoops pool into the bottom of the cream colored ceramic dish.

“You also have weird bruises sometimes. What’s up with that?” Marty leaned back in his chair and held up a hand. “Don’t answer that, don’t answer anything. I’m asking you rhetorical questions now.”

“Why are we here then?”

“I wanted to know if we had a shot. I thought if I told you what my situation was, sharing what’s going on in my family and my plans professionally, you might open up. I needed to know if you loved me too.”

“You know I love you.”

“Yea, you love me like you love the gelato or a spring thunderstorm. They both make you smile and feel content.”

“We are friends, Marty. You’re one of my best friends.”

“It isn’t good enough anymore, Lola. I need to be your absolute best friend, I need to be your companion.”

“I can’t do that Marty.”

“It’s won’t Lola, not can’t. Respect me enough to at least tell me the truth.”

I feel the emotion of this scene. I feel his pleading in my gut. And I wonder why she turns away someone she loves. Great scene!

Oh wow. The emotions and depth to the scene. I was holding my breath for Marty. Can't wait to see what happens with these two friends.

Yes, echoing everyone's thoughts on the emotions - from both sides you can feel the pain, tension, anxiety.
They're both hurting, in different ways.
Great job.
