Tuesday Tales and Sand...Did Someone Say Beach?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to my new Christmas romance WIP,  Snowballs Not Beach Balls.    I present the word prompt, " sand ": "The surf splashed against the rocks, the white caps a sharp contrast to the dark gray water. Muted light filtered through a hazy sky, preparing for the sunrise. Janie Coupler sat on the Hawaiian sand, gripping a mug of steaming coffee. “How did a snow bunny become a beach bum?” She spoke softly against the loudly splashing waves. Vague memories of days past in freezing temperatures, snowmen, and hot cocoa bombarded her reality, making her homesick for something she never really understood. Leaving the mountains shortly before adolescence, could it really have made that much impact on her happiness? Janie recollected the excitement of her father’s job transfer to Hawaii. Wide-eyed, all she could recall thinking was, we’re moving to Hawaii , in eag...

Tuesday Tales- Go for Silver!

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to another still yet unnamed romance WIP, to include the word, "silver". Please enjoy!     They toured homes during the hot, sticky month of July. Matthew threatened several times to bail on the arduous task of finding the home of their dreams.   However, Emily’s determination to move before the baby’s arrival was unyielding.   By the third weekend in a row, they found themselves in a stalemate.    “Ok, please, just come with me today, I need you on this one,” Emily begged Matthew.   “How can you enjoy trudging through stale-smelling homes, most of which have no electricity to even cool them down?”   Matthew replied grumpily. “Today is the day, I can feel it honey, seriously, then, we won’t have to do this again for a very long time.” Emily widened her green eyes in his direction, and he knew he was a goner....

Saturday Sippers in The Locker!

Saturday Sippers in The Locker Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to a new feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. Each week I’ll post a new skinny cocktail recipe for you to try. Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J Saturday Sippers in The Locker makes sense, as drinking was a large part of a pirate’s existence. As taken from The Pirates Realm , please see the following descriptions: Arrack - A strong drink made with fermented fruit or palm sap, rice, or molasses. Black Jack - Large drinking cups made of leather that were made stiffer with an application of tar. Bumboo - A drink of the West Indies made with watered rum and flavored with sugar and nutmeg. Grog - The nickname of a British admiral was applied to a mix of water and rum, the rum was a cheap antiseptic and flavor mask for the spoiled water that sailors often encountered while at sea. Hogshead- A large barrel or cask holding 63 to 140 gallons, usual...

Review Time! American Goddesses by Gary Henry

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to The Locker for book review time once again.   Today, it’s all about American Goddesses by Gary Henry.     Gary is an author, reviewer, ultra-marathoner, and lover of women. Please visit his book review site Honest Indie Book Reviews ~ http://honestindiebookreviews.wordpress.com/ I give this unique novel 3.5 snowflakes. Overall, I enjoyed this super hero tale of women saving the day. I found the storyline engaging and intriguing. Other than a few housekeeping errors, i.e. one minor character’s name and a city changing spellings in a couple of instances and couple slight grammatical issues, this book is worth the time and money to read. Gary begins with the notion that any of us average ordinary women could become a superhero with infinite powers. It pushed my mind into overdrive with what powers I could envision myself with. The escapism from this fantasy was good when ...
