Tuesday Tales and Lightning Strikes

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific prompt each week. Most of the time we write to a certain word. Once per month we write to a picture prompt, and limit our entries to 300 words. I chose lightning. You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my new yet-to-be-named WIP. “I’m not sure when I can make it through a storm without wanting to throw up.” Rubbing my clammy palms down my shorts, I tried unsuccessfully to rid my body of the horrible waves of rocking sensations. “I promise you won’t feel that way forever.” Connor’s voice took on that deep reassuring tone when he truly wanted to get a point across. All I wanted to do was hold my son- my baby sleeping soundly in his crib- completely unaware of his mother’s impending meltdown. “How can I raise him to...

Tuesday Tales and Picture Prompt

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific prompt each week. Most of the time we write to a certain word. Once per month we write to a picture prompt, and limit our entries to 300 words. I chose this cute kitchen shelf. You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my new yet-to-be-named WIP. The decision to eat more went round and round in my brain, while the scrambled eggs cooled to room temperature. Soon, it would be even less appetizing, so, I needed to decide fast. The baby kicked just in time, giving me the cue to make a happy plate. I’d give it my best effort, taking another challenging swallow. My mind reversed to a mealtime far far away in our cozy country kitchen. Garrett’s voice softly drifted into my mind. “This looks good, I’ll fix you some.” Surveying the pans on the...

Tuesday Tales and Snow Cones in Winter?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. This week we share the prompt "snow".  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my brand new yet-to-be-named WIP. Enjoy!~ Conner rubbed the stubble on his chin, and then ran his hand through his hair. There was something he wasn't telling me, and he just gave it away. "She's fine with this, really." For as talkative as he was about everything else, he didn’t have much to say about her. Something still wasn't right, but I wasn't sure I should press them. If I pressed him, then that gave him an automatic pass to press me about difficult subjects. I wasn't quite ready to give him that much latitude. We passed by a rodeo ground, and immediately a memory came to ...

Tuesday Tales - When a Bracelet Causes Havoc

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. This week we share the prompt "bracelet".  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my brand new yet-to-be-named WIP. Enjoy!~ Sitting in the living room watching mindless reruns, I contemplated how comforting television scripts actually were. People became involved in what seemed impossible circumstances, yet they always miraculously worked things out. I liked how in roughly twenty-five minutes major life crisis situations resolved themselves and everyone smiled absurdly at the end. This unrealistic montage of catastrophes turned to bright shiny successes, and I craved such fiction in my own life. A doorbell chime jingled me back to my reality. “Mom, are you gonna get that?” I didn’t want to move from my perm...

Tueday Tales....Make the Call

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. Once per month, we even write to an image.  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds. This week our group writes to the word- write.    This will be an excerpt f ro m my new WIP for a new romance contemporary- My Only Necessary. Enjoy!~ “You’ve never danced before?” Lesley swayed in time with the music, her arms looped around my neck. “You’re very good.” “I do some of my best thinking when I shift from side to side, you know, standing in a thinking man’s pose. I’ve done it for almost as long as I can remember.” Growing up, I stared at puzzles and equations for so long, sitting made my butt sore. Somehow staying mobile helped me process better. “In your own charming way, you made even that sound romantic.” “I shift my weight without picking up my...

Tuesday Tales in a World of Gray

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. Once per month, we even write to an image.  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds. This week our group writes to the word- gray.    This will be an excerpt f ro m my new WIP for a new romance contemporary- You're My Necessary. Enjoy!~   “Are you accusing me of something, Detective?” “We are just talking here. I know these questions might piss you off, but they’re necessary. Is Ms. Spelling safe at your home, Mr. Goode?” Andrew gritted his teeth, “What are you insinuating? Do you think my gray matter isn’t working?” “It’s a necessary question. We might need to put a uniform outside your home… if that is where she plans to remain.” “Yes, she will stay with me, she is safer there than anywhere and I will take care of her.” “I certainly...

That's Amore! Just Out Of My Grasp-How Often Do You Say I LOVE YOU?

Image
Good morning!   I’ve decided to use my blog not only to writing, music, and other facets of entertainment, but, also to share my journey. I’ve had significant health problems for over three years. Initially, rheumatologists diagnosed me with systemic lupus (SLE), Sjogren's Syndrome, and fibromyalgia. However, none of the earlier prescribed medications provided any relief. Actually, I kept getting worse and developing new symptoms. So, after second, third, and fourth opinions, I finally found a wonderful rheumatologist, B. Rezazadeh in Plano, Texas. She determined through exam, medical history, and blood tests I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. (I test positive for ANAs in my blood, and also had a positive Vectra DA test.) Thank you for listening, each week I will have a new installment chronicling my journey- Which is sometimes more frustrating learning to live with this chronic condition.  Learning to live with the unknown has become my routine. There are several variet...

Tuesday Tales, Good as Gold

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the ominous sounding word- Gold.    Fro m Heart Nectar , a new WIP for a new series please see my interpretation. Finding this modest side of Brent gave Nixie another reason to be impressed. He brought a personal subject into their discussion so casually and naturally. Obviously, pride didn’t hinder the disclosure. In the past when a man bragged about his pocket, he was careless with the contents. Nixie admired his practical statements. When Mindie began speaking, she took the opportunity checking around the room for atmosphere. Quickly catching her I were lit candles around the room. Not yet quite dark outside, natural light filtered in completing the golden tones flickering across the space. At a table set for three, a nice tablecloth with complimentary placemats served as a backdrop for their best dishes and cutlery. Mindie had even snuck in a wine carafe, holding a beautiful hued blend. Three sparkling win...

Tuesday Tales and We're Writing!

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, writing. Fro m Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. "What happens when this place bores you, after you’ve invested so much time and money into it?” “I could think of plenty of ways this place wouldn’t bore me.” A smile that could only be termed as mischievous crept slowly across his mouth. His lips were incredible. Shaking off a primal instinct to strut or attempt to mating call. Carolyn tried to remain professional. Both these guys tweaked a nerve, but George had the sensitivity to back it up. Why was he so damn enticing? “I’m not all starry eyed by the rich guy.” “My interest in Heart Nectar is completely legit, as is my interest in getting to know you better.” Oh, dear God, he’s actually coming on to me. What do you say to that? “Look George, you're pleasant enough and attractive. I just don’t see how few minutes we’ve spent here during a meeting makes you inte...
