Tuesday Tales and Giving Hugs

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. Once per month, we even write to an image.  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds. This week our group writes to the word- hug .    This will be an excerpt f ro m my new WIP for a new romance contemporary. Enjoy!~              Conner showed up after supper time Friday evening. I’d put aside a plate for him, tucking it into the microwave. He didn’t get many home cooked meals while he was working. These clinical rotations really took every minute of his time. I heard his car and practically skipped to the front door, holding it open as a welcoming, not just letting him in. “How are you?” He hugged me tightly with both arms. “I’m great, been a good day. Are you terribly tired?” “Nah, I’m okay. I actually g...

Pretty Little Perverts...or Normal? Tuesday Tales

Happy Hot Tuesday and welcome to The Locker. Today, I again return to my current WIP, re-titled Split the Uprights for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write to the word prompt "pretty". I keep thinking I won't have another edition for Tuesday Tales from this book, but, I keep writing more. :) Danika and Finn still haven't made that connection...will they ever?  Neither of us belonged here and we knew it. However, had we not made the stupid decision, the normally wrong decision to join this ridiculous club, we wouldn’t be sitting here sharing cheese dip and draft beer. Love finds a way. Love splits the uprights and scores the critical points. Love is the champion, the reason for the game. Love is way fucking bigger than the Lombardi Trophy and a thousand times as valuable. We might be the only two in this whole room to know the secret. I wanted to sit here forever. I had a feeling she had the same idea. “Finn?” My mouth momentarily wouldn’t wor...

A GOODtime Out Chair? Just Out of My Grasp

07/25/2014 Good morning!   I’ve decided to use my blog not only to writing, music, and other facets of entertainment, but, also to share my journey. I’ve had significant health problems for almost two years. Initially, my rheumatologist diagnosed me with systemic lupus (SLE) on June 19, 2013. However, the medication wasn’t working and I kept getting worse and developing new symptoms. So, after second, third, and fourth opinions, my neurologist believes instead I have fibromyalgia.   In April 2014 I visited yet another rheumatologist who I hoped would be familiar with autoimmune disorders. Following an extensive intake during my initial appointment, I found a place where the doctor also listened to me. Based upon my blood work, the doctor believes I have Sjogren’s Syndrome. She also made the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and pre-lupus. I’ve never heard of pre-lupus, but, hopefully it stays in the “pre” category. Thank you for listening, each week I will have a new instal...

Tuesday Tales - Give Me Such a Big Hug, You Squish My Boobs

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers and welcome to Tuesday Tales. We have a group of authors writing to a single word prompt, and the prompt this week is the simple word "hug". My mind conjures up everything from an innocent hug a momma gives to her bouncing bundle of love to a white hot lover's embrace. This word takes us so many places and answers so many unwritten questions when we just can't find the words to communicate with someone we care about. But today, I'm introducing you to a brand new WIP that's only 7K words in. It's with my beta reader now and I'm excited to get more words down. So, please enjoy my short piece about a "hug". According to the particular client meeting, I pipe in a digital music station statistically shown to improve the chances of closing the deal on a contract. With women like Danika, I set the station to happy love songs. It reinforces the hope and gives her the nudge to sign on the dotted line. Whereas when I s...
