Nail You to Your Promises...Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the word prompt, "nail". Would Marty ever change his mind?  From Steal My Heart, book 4 WIP from The Fantasy League series. “Good Lord, young lady, you sure make me feel my age.” “Yeah, old man, whatever, mid-life crisis years are still well ahead of you. Today is attributed to couch-itis.” The fifteen mile bike ride through an expansive nature preserve winded both of them. However, Sharlyn would never admit the truth. No breeze, the bright green leaves still in the heating, humid air, the day proved to be another hot one. “C’mon big brother, I’ll buy you an ice cream.” Suddenly, it occurred to Marty he hadn’t had ice cream, since, well, the last time with Lola. “Ice cream?” “Yes, you know, the frozen sweet stuff that adds pounds to your gut.” Recalling their goodbye, when she rejected him, she wouldn’t leave with him. She didn’t want a relationship. They were better suited as friends, blah blah blah. ...

"Right" or Wrong...We'll Always Have Brownies

Happy Hot Tuesday and another edition of Tuesday Tales. Today, I return to my current WIP, Multiple Scorgasms for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write to the word prompt "right". This book is currently with a set of beta readers, I'm excited for their feedback. But, for now, let's return to Lola and her co-worker, Eugene. “Eugene, can you take over for me tomorrow?” “Lola, you are not going to wimp out now. You aren’t bleeding or in the hospital. Put on your big girl panties.” Eugene wasn’t going to let me descend into the cave. Somehow, I think he sensed danger in letting me wallow. Fucker. “You’re an asshole.” “Yeah, maybe so, but, you don’t pay me enough to take your place on a Sunday, so get over it.” “I hate you sometimes, Eugene.” My stomach burned and my eyes narrowed. “I’m not paying you anymore money!” “This I know.” “You are impossibly immature. I don’t know what your problem is, but, PMS never lasts this long with ...

Love and Lists by Tara Sivec - Book Review

Image
Book Review ****snowflakes Love and Lists by Tara Sivec – Chocoholics Series This novel is the first I’ve read by Tara. After reading the rave reviews for her books, especially the Chocolate Lovers series, I had to check this new series out. Tara’s snappy writing style did not disappoint me. If anything, I had a hard time keeping up with the vigor of all the characters. It felt like when I watched the Terminator and I was Sarah Connor- always on the run. Not the horror part, mind you, but, the high impact energy level.  Tara did a very good job keeping the reader engaged in the story. Sometimes I got confused because the reading pace was very quick. I found myself reading faster to keep up with the one-liner dialogue, as if I was hearing their conversations/arguments/sarcasm in my head. It did encourage imagery of a boisterous family. So, by the end, I decided I liked the pace. (But, I have to wonder how many people- friends, families, etc, share this type of dia...

Saturday Sippers - Is That Champagne or Sparkling Wine?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to the feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. This year I focus on some of my favorite adult beverages. Most will contain alcohol, but, some will not. Today, in honor of Valentine's Day, I will discuss the difference between champagne and sparkling wine. Wine.About.Com  gives us a rundown: The Champagne we know and love comes exclusively from the Champagne region of France, and claims the honor of being the most famous of the sparkling wines. Technically, it is the only sparkling wine that may be referred to as "Champagne." Bubbly from all other regions in the world are simply referred to as "sparkling wine".  Ah ha, so, not every bubbly is champagne.  Basically it's a category, or a name, simply dependent upon the region in which it's produced.  There are as many sparkling wines as there are flavors of soda pop, therefore it would be almost impossible to narrow down all my favorites. But, I still ha...

Tuesday Tales -- Putting the Buzzzzzz in Satin

Image
On Ellicott Street Buy Link Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to Tuesday Tales. I introduce you to a new WIP I have going. It's a snarky, yet, erotic romance entitled Cheaper to Keep Her. Our word prompt today is "satin" and I have plenty I can say with this particular prompt. Without further ado...please see my snippet with "satin" as the prompt word. ***CONTAINS EXPLICIT CONTENT* “I don’t know who in the world would like satin sheets. They’re slippery and never stay on the bed the right way.” Stormi tugged at the fitted fabric pulling it into place. “It’s supposed to be sexy, feel good on your skin. You don’t think so?” Stormi’s best friend, Peaches Johnson fiddled with a pillowcase. “Peaches, would you please stop daydreaming and just hand me that pillow.” Stormi gruffly pulled it out of her hands. “What’s gotten into you lately anyway? You used to be fun and crazy. Now you just sit around all moody and cranky. There isn’t anyone in a t...

Flasher Fiction Friday - Is That a Pineapple in Your Pocket?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers, this Friday I return to my first recurring blog contribution, the Friday Flash Fiction. A group of writers will write exactly 100 words, no more no less, to a picture prompt. After you read my contribution, please read what the other writers have to say, the links follow. Happy Friday! Gripping the ice-filled tumbler, Bea placed the cool glass against her belly. Her mind swirling from the effects of an earlier couple of mai-tai drinks, the mojito launched her into a full-on alcohol buzz. The man smiled broadly in her direction, while the woman whispered something in his ear. He slid off the underwater bar stool and swam in Bea’s direction. Reaching the pool ladder, his muscled torso tensely rippled from using his abdominals to hoist himself up out of the water. Dripping across the concrete, he exuded confidence and heady sexuality with his swagger. “How'd you like your drink?”  Please visit these each of us as we put 100 words on this delicious photo:...
