Tuesday Tales and a Gift

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. This week we share the prompt "gift".  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my brand new yet-to-be-named WIP. Enjoy!~ Matthew smiled and Laurel breathed a sigh of contentment.   The world as it should be.   Snow falling from the sky, powder on the ski runs, warm heat blowing on her frozen toes, and Matthew by her side.   Whoa, did I just think that? This guy is my friend and coach.   Laurel ran her fingers through her hair thoughtfully, a move not lost on Matthew.   I would love to touch your hair.   I bet it’s as soft as the fallen snow.   Matthew felt like a complete dork.   How corny his thoughts became around Laurel. ...

Tuesday Tales - I'm a Survivor

Image
Happy December Tuesday Tales... Today, I return to my current WIP, a Game of Inches, for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week our group writes to the following word prompt, dance. Will Sharlyn survive? “When I made this decision, I didn’t have to think. I moved into action mode and wanted to get it done. Now, I wonder, will I ever dance at my sister’s wedding? Will I even be invited?” “Marty, you’re an incredible man, with a huge heart. I’m only sorry I didn’t see it sooner. I suppose I did, I just pretended it was all a lie.” I was so torn, I still loved Lola, but, I couldn’t forget what she did. Every time I see Sharlyn, I see Lola. The beautiful younger version, full of the goodness and kindness Lola never had. I knew it from the beginning, but, I’d hope she would change. People don’t change. “Lola, if I’m lucky enough to be a part of Sharlyn’s life, I don’t know how to do it and avoid you. It kills me so much inside, wanting you so much, lovin...

Can a Letter Make You That Crazy? Tuesday Tales

Image
Happy Hot Tuesday and welcome to The Locker.  Today, I move to book two of my current WIP, A Game of Inches, for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write to the word prompt "letter".  “ Now, mom had me concerned. Normally, she’s going out of her way luring me back to ground zero. I’ve turned down home cooking, money, vacations, you name it. I always had an excuse. I know it appears I harbor nothing but contempt and frustration for this female who birthed me. However, I must admit, right here…right now. I love my mother. I will always love my mother, no matter how weird she becomes. Neither of us can change the past. My indiscretions, insert heavy sarcasm, more than outweigh the burden of being Laverne’s spawn. We are at a stalemate in the game of hurting each other. I realize neither of us have the energy, nor the inclination, to continue throwing emotional daggers as one another. Hence my deep concern she obviously doesn’t want me in our family home. ...

Book Review of Jasinda Wilder's - After Forever...Book Two in the Ever Trilogy

Image
After Forever *****Snowflakes by Jasinda Wilder – Book Two in the Ever Trilogy Jasinda Wilder captured the essence of an ultimate quid pro quo...she even used that term in the book at one point. There were times it was hard to understand how Cade and Eden could commit such a betrayal. I began to imagine Cade looking at Eden and seeing Ever. I think he gave in to the physical pain and heartache and imagined it was his Ever. I know Ever and Eden are twin sisters, but, their connection is not as tight as some siblings, especially twins, can be. The underlying jealousy and misunderstanding each of them have for the other is evident and described so subtly. But, I knew it remained a deep part of the chasm between the sisters. I think Eden was horribly selfish in taking what she wanted without any conscience, it’s how she treated everyone. She justified her behavior by blaming her absent father and the death of her mother, but, as human beings we all know right...

Tuesday Tales with Bells On!!

Finding Love and Bigfoot Book 2 of the Critter Getters Ahoy Fellow Fathomers and welcome to Tuesday Tales. This week our talented group of writers has the word prompt "bells", apropos for the Christmas season, wouldn't you say? I take you now to the 3rd book in writing progress from Allee Mae's new series, The Critter Getters. The title of this one is, Finding Love in a Black Lagoon. Let's peek in on Owen and Pearls' private conversation... “So, what were Christmases like at your house?” Pearl kept her gaze locked on the twinkling stars above. Owen shifted, stretched, and in one motion was lying close enough to graze her arm with his. Neither moved from their place on the blanket, but instead kept their focus on the velvety nighttime sky. “Some years good, some bad, I s’pose like anyone else.” “Do you really believe everyone has an occasional bad holiday? You gotta be joking.” “Things happen in life, Pearl. What if someone in the famil...

Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J It’s now December, in the middle of my favorite time of the year. It reminds me of old school Coca-Cola Commercials…”I’d like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony…”, circling our Christmas wish list in the J.C. Penney catalog, and fires in the fireplace. Now, that’s the holidays I hold onto. WINTER SNAP! Ingredients 1 ounce ginger syrup 1 ounce Curacao 1 ounce spiced syrup 1 ½ ounces vodka Grated nutmeg or cinnamon for garnish Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
