Tuesday Tales and No One is an Island

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. Once per month, we even write to an image.  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds. This week our group writes to the word- island.    This will be an excerpt f ro m my new WIP for a new romance contemporary, No Games, Just Love. Enjoy!~ Lola’s first annual Texi-Tropical Mixer appeared successful. No matter how many times the luau theme showcased a party or event, the timeless fun and classic setting promised fun times. We rented a small portion of a lake swim beach for a sandy spot. Volleyball games played out in one corner, limbo took an area, and other assorted games and get-to-know-you exercises kept folks chatting and laughing. Some wore island inspired clothing, tiki masks, hula attire, you name it. We knew an informal gathering could infringe upo...

Nail You to Your Promises...Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the word prompt, "nail". Would Marty ever change his mind?  From Steal My Heart, book 4 WIP from The Fantasy League series. “Good Lord, young lady, you sure make me feel my age.” “Yeah, old man, whatever, mid-life crisis years are still well ahead of you. Today is attributed to couch-itis.” The fifteen mile bike ride through an expansive nature preserve winded both of them. However, Sharlyn would never admit the truth. No breeze, the bright green leaves still in the heating, humid air, the day proved to be another hot one. “C’mon big brother, I’ll buy you an ice cream.” Suddenly, it occurred to Marty he hadn’t had ice cream, since, well, the last time with Lola. “Ice cream?” “Yes, you know, the frozen sweet stuff that adds pounds to your gut.” Recalling their goodbye, when she rejected him, she wouldn’t leave with him. She didn’t want a relationship. They were better suited as friends, blah blah blah. ...

My First Ever Self-Published Book! SPLIT THE UPRIGHTS!

Image
new release day for me!! http://www.amazon.com/Split-Uprights-Fantasy-Leagues-Book-ebook/dp/B00PO958T0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416102584&sr=8-1&keywords=Split+the+Uprights&pebp=1416102584785 Okay, I self-published my first book this weekend. The first book in my Fantasy League series entitled, Split the Uprights. What happens when you mix men and women in a fantasy football league? Lots of sexy competition and instant rivalries. Owner of Fantasy Leagues, Lola Fontaine, maintains two identities, one as loving matchmaker and the other as ball busting Dominatrix. In the LockHim Room, her muscle toned guys never know what to expect.  With reclusive statistician, Eugene Carlton, they believe they have the perfect formula for romance. All their success takes a place on the Wall of Flame. But, do they really know anything about true love connections?  She takes awkward Danika Parker under her wing and teaches her everything she doesn't know about love. However...

No Way November....Tuesday Tales

Image
Happy Tuesday and welcome to The Locker.  Today, I move to book two of my current WIP, A Game of Inches, for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write, to the word prompt "flower".  “Irony huh? I also went to see my mom. She is now hoarding jigsaw puzzles. However, we came to a mutual understanding, so, I’m looking past all the pieces scattered around in her house. They give her a feeling of completion not normally occurring in her reality. I get it.” “Only with you could I be so dumbfounded.” “You could never be dumb, Eugene, it’s why I hired you.” “A figure of speech, I intended dumbfounded as a figure of speech.” “So, here’s the deal. I will be really out of commission for a few weeks. I have a legit reason. I don’t trust anyone else to run Fantasy Leagues. Will you please stay with me to see this through and start basketball?” Silence. “Please?” “Lola, just when I think I can walk away from you, both middle fingers standing proudly, you thro...

Boo-sday Tales...I mean Tuesday Tales - Happy Halloween

Image
Happy Creepy Tuesday and welcome to The Locker.  Today, I move to book two of my current WIP, A Game of Inches, for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write, appropriately, to the word prompt "ghostly".  Inside, I sniffed the aromas of dried, rotting wood. The breeze carried the rustic smell of fall through failing windows. I took short steps, almost tiptoeing across the warped floor. Finn read my mind. “Watch out, there’s boards missing close to where you’re stepping.” I looked around, directing the flashlight beam around the large area. “You’re right, this isn’t the kind of place Lola would willingly come.” “Let’s go through all the space before we leave. We want to be thorough.” Finn snapped on rubber gloves. I smiled. Over the years, the snapping sound indicated taking care of business. I thought of the classic song, BTO, baby. I know about some good music, my parents did a wonderful job of exposing me to the classics. I pulled gloves from my back p...

TUESDAY TALES? YEP, We are BACK! waving "ribbons"

Happy Hot Tuesday and WE ARE BACK for Tuesday Tales? Today, I return to my current WIP, re-titled Split the Uprights for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write to the word prompt "ribbon".   It's exciting because I'm so close to the end of writing this first book. Which means, it will retire from soon from Tuesday Tales. I may get one or two more out of it. :) I'll just have to wait and see.   Danika was there that day when my uncle took me back to that house one last time. I was supposed to stay in his truck. I don’t even know why I was with him. The look in her eyes, it wasn’t pity, it was empathy. But, my immature mind couldn’t tell the difference. I thought she was afraid of me and I didn’t want to hear her insults. I heard them enough at school. But, how could his beautiful creature want to hurt anyone? I still wouldn’t take the chance. When she opened her mouth to speak, I ran back to my uncle’s truck. He told me to stay inside anyway and...

Fix My Funnel, Please...Just Out of My Grasp

Image
Good morning!   I’ve decided to use my blog not only to writing, music, and other facets of entertainment, but, also to share my journey. I’ve had significant health problems for almost two years. Initially, my rheumatologist diagnosed me with systemic lupus (SLE) on June 19, 2013. However, the medication wasn’t working and I kept getting worse and developing new symptoms. So, after second, third, and fourth opinions, my neurologist believes instead I have fibromyalgia.   In April 2014 I visited yet another rheumatologist who I hoped would be familiar with autoimmune disorders. Following an extensive intake during my initial appointment, I found a place where the doctor also listened to me. Based upon my blood work, the doctor believes I have Sjogren’s Syndrome. She also made the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and pre-lupus. I’ve never heard of pre-lupus, but, hopefully it stays in the “pre” category. Thank you for listening, each week I will have a new installment chroni...

What Else Will Bloom? Tuesday Tales

Image
Happy Hot Tuesday and another edition of Tuesday Tales. Today, I return to my current WIP, Multiple Scorgasms for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week we write to the word prompt "bloom". It's exciting because I'm so close to the end of writing this first book. Which means, it will retire from Tuesday Tales. I may get one or two more out of it. :) I'll just have to wait and see. I incessantly banged on the door and rang the doorbell in tandem. I had my fist in mid-air when the door jerked open by a very disheveled Lola cocooned in a sheet gritting her teeth. “What the fuck are you doing here?” “I was worried.” “As you can see I’m still alive.” I noticed her wrists and alarm pinged my gut. “What happened to your wrists? Are you here alone?” I advanced to the threshold, the investigator took over. “I’m here alone. I’m fine. I want to be left alone and go back to bed.” She shooed me away with her arm and tried to re-wrap the slipping sheet...

Tuesday Tales and a Super Moon Moment

Image
Happy Hot Tuesday and another edition of Tuesday Tales. Today, I return to my current WIP, Multiple Scorgasms for my Fantasy Leagues series. We are writing 300 words to this gorgeous photo of the moon.  I didn't see the supermoon on Saturday night, even though I was outside. I studied the stars and forgot about it, but, I did see some other amazing photos. Please check out my 300 as we examine what Finn sees in Danika.... She was there that day when my uncle took me back to that house one last time. I was supposed to stay in his truck. The look in her eyes, it wasn’t pity, it was empathy. But, my immature mind couldn’t tell the difference. I thought she was afraid of me and I didn’t want to hear her insults. But, how could his beautiful creature want to hurt anyone? I wouldn’t take the chance. When she opened her mouth to speak, I ran back to my uncle’s truck. He told me to stay inside anyway and I didn’t want to anger him. I needed a home and didn’t want him to kick...

Tuesday Tales and Who's Your Bro-Daddy?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers and Happy June to all in the cyberhood.  I don't know about you, but, I cannot believe this will be the halfway mark of 2014. Today, our Tuesday Tales group is writing, belatedly, to the word prompt, "father" this week. Once again, I'm pleased to return you to my new WIP, the Fantasy Leagues....Book One - Multiple Scorgasms.  Today, we find Coach Lola in tender situation. Take a peek: Marty smiled and reached for my hand. He brought it to his lips and kissed each finger gently. “Lola, we have spectacular times. I feel it…you feel it.” “Okay, we agree on that then.” Marty dropped my hand softly and grimaced. He actually grimaced. “Once a month is not nearly enough. Even during that once a month, we only scratch the surface of each other’s lives. I have no idea what you do eighty percent of the time. I might know less than that. Now that we decided to put dad in a home, I want more of a personal life. I ...
