Tuesday Tales and Eating Seeds

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. This week the word prompt is "seed". You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my new yet-to-be-named WIP. Enjoy!~ The sun warmed the truck and the travelers, creating a lazy atmosphere. They finally turned the radio on, seeking new stations as they left one tower band when the incessant static drowned out the music. They stopped occasionally to stretch their legs and get refreshment. Caleb insisted on sunflower seeds and Dr. Pepper to keep him alert while the rest of them chose random boredom foods. He and Owen exchanged turns driving. The late afternoon sun finally dipped low enough to signal supper. Yet, they continued on, with promises of home cooking from Mr. Richard upon their arrival. At the end of the day, deep in south...

Tuesday Tales and the "END"

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to Tuesday Tales. I introduce you to a  WIP I have going under my sweet pseudonym Allee Mae. It's the 3rd in my YA paranormal romance series the Critter Getters. This book is entitled  Finding Love in a Black Lagoon.  Our prompt today is the word "end".  As a writer, one of our favorite things to type is "the end",  although it might not always be the favorite thing for a reader to read. :) “Kal and I are headed into town for a supply run. Anybody want anything?” Caleb’s hair was freshly combed and still slightly wet from a recent shower. “Dude, are you wearing cologne?” Owen leaned toward Caleb and took a big whiff. “That shirt you’re wearing doesn’t even have a stain on it either.” “Cut it out man, I just took a shower, that’s all.” Caleb shrugged his shoulders and as hard as he tried, he couldn’t shake the sheepish look he had on his face. Leandra took a long sip of her iced tea. “I think you and Kal are ...

Thespian Wench Thursday - Please Welcome Laurie White

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers....today in The Locker we have the lovely, Laurie White. Today, Laurie will give away a copy of her new release to one lucky reader. So, please give her a shout out in the comments section and leave contact information. She will draw one name.  As is my rule on Thespian Wench Thursday....the guest takes over...so, Laurie, take it away! Thanks for hosting me, Davee! It is always nice to guest on a fellow author's blog. I write romantic suspense, which is also my favorite genre to read...I just love that combination of danger and passion, and it's pretty fun coming up with a nasty, evil villain in addition to a smoldering, seductive hero and a feisty, sexy heroine! Rachel and Matt are both trying to put tragic pasts behind them, yet are drawn to each other despite their misgivings. I do hope your blog readers will check out WITHOUT A TRACE! EXCERPT: Something wasn't right.  Rachel Bennett felt uneasy from the moment she'd se...

Tuesday Tales - Why Are You So Pale?

Our prompt today is the word "pale".  Pale has many connotations, and I'm sure you'll find a variety of uses with our Tuesday Tales bloggers. “This is all so much to let out in one afternoon. Can we call time out and pick this conversation up again later?” Pearl sniffled, dry tears wouldn’t fall, she’d cried too much in the past. “Yes, we can.” Owen held onto Pearl’s shoulders, but, situated her in front of him. He looked into her eyes, her face pale, almost sallow. “Don’t be afraid to talk to me. I think we both have heavy demons to unload. I’d say we broke enough ice for one sitting.” “Thank you. Owen, you’re a good man. I’m glad I met you.” “I want you to spend the rest of the week with us. Our inv...

Tuesday Tales and Fresh Meat

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to Tuesday Tales. I introduce you to a new WIP I have going under my sweet pseudonym Allee Mae. It's the 3rd in my YA paranormal romance series the Critter Getters. This book is entitled  Finding Love in a Black Lagoon.  In honor of hungry tummies everywhere,  our word prompt today is "meat". (Or, maybe we're talking quality top choice sexiness.) Without further ado...please see my snippet with "meat" as the prompt word. “I’m sorry, Pearl, I’m not trying to ruin our picnic. I’m asking questions, that’s all. I’m trying to understand you.” Owen reached up and lightly gripped her hand. Pearl shook him off and walked toward a tree stump, then quickly sat down on it. “I don’t care if you believe me or not. I didn’t ask for any of this and I’d much rather be alone than try to continually explain myself.” Pearl sighed and picked at the strings from her cutoff shorts.  “Owen, there are times in my life when I feel ashamed...

Our word prompt today is "mirror" and I have plenty I can say with this particular prompt. Without further ado...please see my snippet with "mirror" as the prompt word. Owen tried again. “Pearl, is that you?” He parted the underbrush to get a better look. However, he stopped before he made any actual forward progress. The rest of the group stood back, speechless, and watched Owen’s movements. Owen looked to Caleb for assistance.  Caleb shifted his backpack and moved backward, but he subtly pointed toward the young woman. Owen gulped and nodded. “Hello? My friends and I just want to know if you’re okay.” With still no response, Leandra got involved. “Hello in there, we just want to know you are safe, ...

Tuesday Tales with Bells On!!

Image
Finding Love and Bigfoot Book 2 of the Critter Getters Ahoy Fellow Fathomers and welcome to Tuesday Tales. This week our talented group of writers has the word prompt "bells", apropos for the Christmas season, wouldn't you say? I take you now to the 3rd book in writing progress from Allee Mae's new series, The Critter Getters. The title of this one is, Finding Love in a Black Lagoon. Let's peek in on Owen and Pearls' private conversation... “So, what were Christmases like at your house?” Pearl kept her gaze locked on the twinkling stars above. Owen shifted, stretched, and in one motion was lying close enough to graze her arm with his. Neither moved from their place on the blanket, but instead kept their focus on the velvety nighttime sky. “Some years good, some bad, I s’pose like anyone else.” “Do you really believe everyone has an occasional bad holiday? You gotta be joking.” “Things happen in life, Pearl. What if someone in the famil...

Tuesday Tales - The Sweet Scent of....Blood?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! For this week's Tuesday Tales, we are writing to the word prompt, "Sweet". Please see another excerpt from my paranormal thriller, Jerky.   “I’ve seen the near impossible happen right before my eyes so you know I believe you Jo, and it’s hard to imagine some mortal human was capable of something like this.” Wylder pointed to the scene below them. “I’m going to make my way down there, just in case someone is hurt.” “I’ll follow you, just be careful, I don’t trust this rickety walkway.” Joelle slid both arms into the backpack straps of her crime scene go-bag. Wylder tentatively pressed with increasing weight before he finally took each step. The wood groaned and creaked, almost speaking the horrors of the room. A musty odor wafted from the dank wood railing to which they clung with gloved hands. The sweet, metal scent of blood lingered in the heavy air. Joelle closed her mouth tightly, breathing exclusively through her nose to keep from tasti...
