Tuesday Tales...No One is Guaranteed It'll Ever Be Free

Image
Welcome Fellow Fathomers to Tuesday Tales. Our group will be writing to the word prompt "free" this week. Now, I've been giving snippets of Owen and Pearl's story in the TT, but, I can't do that anymore....because I have a contract on their story!!  Yay! Instead, I take you to a new series I've recently begun writing. I'm super excited about it and hope you will be too. For this excerpt, the owner and CEO of The Fantasy Leagues, Lola Fontaine, gives a little bit of her perspective...let's peek in. "For our first group meeting with the new participants for this years’ fantasy football league, as usual, I went slightly over the top. Okay, I went completely over the top of the mountain. I always do, for every first meeting. But, I have my reasons. No matter that I have a signed and binding contract, it always makes me nervous that someone will drop. I will do everything in my power to keep that from happening. It really screws with my numbers ...

Saturday Sippers Live (well almost) from Austin Texas and #AustinBookFest

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to the feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. Today is extra special because I’m spending it in AUSTIN, TEXAS! At the #AustinBookFest -featuring some amazing authors , devoted bloggers, and dedicated fans. Now, when readers and writers get together, there is usually wine involved. Maybe a little bit of chocolate and even cupcakes—or for the REALLY lucky, KOLACHES. Straight from West, TX But, something I look forward to after a hard week of workin’ is a red beer. Red Beer? There’s another name for it in these parts, and for the squeamish I’ll just apologize now…some bartenders call it a bloody beer. (no, it isn’t real blood.) I’ll just call it red beer for the sake of appeal. Further, if you’re from Mexico, or vacationed there, you might call it a Michelada. The Michelada has several variations, so, ask how your drink will be prepared before you order it. Budweiser has a canned version calle...

Giving this Tuesday Tale a Nudge in the Right Direction

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to Tuesday Tales. I introduce you to a brand new spicy WIP I have going. My new series is entitled, The Fantasy Leagues.  Our prompt today is the word "nudge", and I will be giving this word my best push in the right direction. LOL Emma kept looking and my mind wandered to the surroundings. I keep my office very much different than I keep my personal space at home. I’m here to promote love, and the feeling of happily ever after. Fresh flowers always adorn a sofa table, today I have mixed carnations. I always keep one fresh rose in a bud vase on the left corner of my desk. I have assorted chocolates in a crystal bowl in the center. I can’t remember the last time I ate chocolate, but, my clients very much enjoy it. According to the client meeting, I pipe in a digital music station statistically shown to improve the chances of closing the deal on a contract. With women like Emma, I set the station to happy love songs. It reinforces the hope ...

Saturday Sippers in The Locker Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to the feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. Each week I’ll post a new cocktail recipe for you to try. Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J It’s now December, in the middle of my favorite time of the year. It reminds me of old school Coca-Cola Commercials…”I’d like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony…”, circling our Christmas wish list in the J.C. Penney catalog, and fires in the fireplace. Now, that’s the holidays I hold onto. WINTER SNAP! Ingredients 1 ounce ginger syrup 1 ounce Curacao 1 ounce spiced syrup 1 ½ ounces vodka Grated nutmeg or cinnamon for garnish Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Top with grated nutmeg and cinnamon. *ginger syrup – mix equal parts pureed ginger juice and sugar **spiced syrup – mix equal parts water and sugar. Add clove and cinnamon

Last year I gave him a girlfriend that won't talk back, this year, he is special guest in my blog. (both are probably about the same excitement. LOL) In honor of Samuel Wylder, I present to you a renamed drink: The Hot Sammy! Ingredients 1 ounce apple cider 1 t lemon juice 2 ounces bourbon Honey to taste Begin with a steaming mug of hot water. Add all ingredients. Drink a few and it’s guaranteed to cure your sore throat or whatever else ails you.

Saturday Sippers and Tommyknockers Brewery

Image
Photo taken by me last summer Saturday Sippers in The Locker Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to the feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. Each week I highlight a new beverage, but, this week, I pay tribute to my favorite microbrewery in Idaho Springs, CO, Tommyknockers . With almost 20 signature beers, and seasonal specialty brews, this premium brewpub boasts some of the best tasting beer in the country, and they have the awards to prove it. One of my favorites is a new addition, the Pine Bough Ale, as quoted from the Tommyknockers site: “Session-able pale ale with a hint of mountain pine. Copper in color, medium in body and malty sweetness with a high drinkability factor. The flavors and aroma sway between fruity and citrus with up front American hops and a hint of herbal mountain pine. Spruce pine needles handpicked from the Loveland Ski Area. This special beer is inspired by and made to commemorate Loveland Ski Areas 75th Anniversary. Only...
