A Star is Born

A Star Is Born – Movie Review I plan to see this movie again in the theater, dragging along my box of Kleenex, ready for a repeat of the angst, heartbreak, and sheer emotion this movie seems to evoke from audiences. I’m a huge fan of soundtracks and how much music provides the best backdrop for any script. This movie goes above and beyond basic sound mixing to display some of the best original song writing and performing, not only for a film, but, for a record period. The incredible chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga is amazing and sort of awe inspiring. The music these two created captured love broken down into the gritty basics we sometimes ignore in reality. Stripped of pretense, the songs created for Jackson and Ally made me swoon, and listen non-stop to each and every heart touching musical interpretation of the life these two lived onscreen, longing for such devotion in my own relationships. Bradley’s dedication to become Jackson included some remar...

If you or someone you love has thoughts of suicide, depression, or helplessness, please let someone know. someone cares, they really do, I know because I care about you , I don't have to know you to understand your value. I'm in Texas, but, there is a nationwide hotline you can start with Suicide Lifeline . there is another way, let someone help you explore your options. hugs 1-800-273-8255 Review     13 Reasons Why   PLEASE NOTE: this contains spoilers of the Netflix series , 13 Reasons Why based upon the novel of the same name by Jay Asher . It’s hard for me to put into words how this series made me feel. I raised two boys who are now in their twenties, but, still have my 17 year old daughter at home. My sons really didn’t experience bullying. However, my daughter is another story. Even though she’d been at the same school since late Kindergarten, she was anointed an outcast. Some of the things that happened made me so angry, I remember on...

REVIEW All the Ugly and Wonderful Things Bryn Greenwood

Review All the Ugly and Wonderful Things       It’s hard for me to put into words how this book made me feel. On one hand, the book flirts with taboos. The storyline made me occasionally cringe, and stop reading. However, I’d pick it back up and start again, anxious to see how the story ends. I have to say it’s Bryn’s outstanding writing style that kept me coming back to the book. I dare say I enjoyed her writing more than the story itself. The story simply a catalyst weaving her gorgeous tapestry of syllables. Bryn put me smack dab in the middle of the dejected, uncomfortable existence of the characters. I cannot call this a romantic love story. I had to step out of my comfort zone, and see the world through Wavy Quinn’s eyes, the leading character in this bitter tale. Bryn does a superb job squaring the reader firmly into Wavy’s mind.   I could understand why Wavy wouldn’t speak, or why she reacted in more feral ways than socially accepta...

Jasinda Wilder - Forever and Always - Book Review

Image
Forever and Always   **** Snowflakes by Jasinda Wilder – Book One in the Ever Trilogy Forever and Always   introduces us to Ever and Cade and their unique story. They meet at an art camp and through their very short time together, develop an obvious bond. Jasinda does a good job demonstrating how love at first sight can actually happen. These two awkward teenagers have more in common than most. Ever and Cade both discover their artistic expression is a welcome release from their stressful lives- they both draw and paint with impeccable accuracy. The connection is incredible. However, in a unique turn, these two characters fall in love over the course of becoming pen pals. They live too far away from each other to form an in-person relationship. They write with brutal honesty the personal struggles and desires they share. Ms. Wilder fully develops characters from start to finish; even the secondary characters receive their descriptive due.   Th...
