Tuesday Tales is a Stiff One

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, stiff . So, here we go from Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. “I’ve got an idea, if you’d like to hear it.” “You’re going to tell me the idea anyway. Whether I say I want to hear it or not.” Mom’s idea of dealing with life ranged from grassroots granola hippie methods to some of the most high tech advances in science. The eclectic way my mom approach life usually amused me. Today she sparked a bad nerve. “How about a self-defense course?” “You mean those classes we usually made fun of? You know the women that put themselves into helpless situations and we couldn’t figure out why they’d be doing that shit in the first place. I know to have my keys ready to unlock my car before I walk out of the store. I know to be aware of my surroundings. I know not to be in strange places after dark. Common sense trumps most of what they teach.” “Oh I’m not talking about those run-of...

Tuesday Tales are Getting Ruthless

Image
Happy January Tuesday Tales... Today, I return to my current WIP, Personal Fouls, Book 3 for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week our group writes to the rather rebellious word, ruthless . Read a little tidbit about Rudy... Before I could legally sit in the front seat of a car, I played football. Some kids played video games, soccer, went fishing, or watched cartoons, I was practicing. Every Sunday, I watched football all afternoon with my pops. He taught me about downs, off sides, running plays, penalties, and everything else I needed to know to make me invincible. I spent hours throwing a football through a tire swing in the yard. I needed accuracy with the perfect spiral meant to leave the defense in the dust. Pops got me into little league football, giving me the chance to show my skills to the bigger kids. The difference between me and all the other boys, I breathed this game twenty-four seven, and it showed. By no surprise, I broke every school record for...

Tuesday Tales and a Gray Area Beginning 2015

Happy December Tuesday Tales... Today, I return to my current WIP, Personal Fouls, book 3 for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week our group writes to the word prompt, gray . Who is getting family history from a concerned Auntie?   “He was sleeping around as soon as he hit puberty. Somehow, he possessed the charm to drop panties. Surely, he wasn’t careful enough to always use protection. He was never worried about the end game.” “Did you ever talk with my mom about any of this? Maybe try to warn her?” Stuck in the middle between guarding my mother’s honor and allowing her free will pinned me into a corner. “Did he ever love my mom?” “Absolutely! He loved your mom. They married with the best of intentions and made great business partners. I thought possibly she might tame his savage ways. He was loyal longer than I thought he would be.” “What happened?” “Dammit, this is gonna be a tough delivery, so bear with me. When your mom became pregnant with you, appa...

Happy December Tuesday Tales... Today, I return to my current WIP, a Game of Inches, for my Fantasy Leagues series. This week our group writes to the word prompt, new year. opens so many possibilities, doesn't it? Let's peek in on when Lola and Marty first met. Happy New Year everyone!! “C’mon, you’re gonna miss the ball drop.”  I threw a handful of popcorn in Lola’s direction. “I will reiterate, back around Halloween when you asked if I wanted to watch the ball drop on New Year’s Eve, I believed you invited me to New York.” “If I was gonna take you to New York for the New Year, we’d at least be sharing a bed.” I raised my eyebrows a few times. “Aw, chex mix, Marty. Why’d you have to go and drag sex into our friendship?” Lola pulled a few fluffy popped kernels out of her curls. She settled in next to me on the couch. “Do you think Dick Clark is immortal?” I studied the wrinkled image of the famous host with a crooked smile. On my sixty inch screen, the man look...
