Tuesday Tales- Is a Picture Worth 300 Words?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy May 14th! It's time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to a new installment in my YA series WIP,  Finding Love in a Black Lagoon.    We Tuesday Tales Authors present this picture prompt: Is this a tranquil street? Did a murder happen here? What's really going on in this would be Twin Peaks? "Owen leaned forward in his chair, his hands dangling in between his parted knees. “You don’t know what it’s like growing up in a small town. People can be awfully helpful, but, they can be just as judgmental. It was tough on me sometimes as a kid.” “I grew up just a short hop, skip, and a jump away from you, Owen. I know what it’s like. I think most everyone in Oklahoma feels the same way at one time or another.”  Pearl rubbed his arm gently, using long comforting strokes. She spoke in a low voice brimming with empathy. Owen Guthrie sighed, a rarity for this particular young man. He looked down at the...

Tuesday Tales chocolate and a hot campfire....did someone say Paranormal?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday! It's time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week we have a delicious word prompt- " chocolate ".  Today we visit a campfire from Finding Love and Bigfoot , the second in the Critter Getter series.      “What do you have there, Mr. Caleb?” Leandra laughed, attempting to get a better look at what Caleb held in his fingers. “Something I hope you sweet tooth connoisseurs haven’t seen yet.” Caleb held up a bag containing fluffy white blobs. “Okay, dude, we’ve had marshmallows before.” Kalista slightly dipped her head and raised one eyebrow. The campfire light danced across her warm features. Caleb opened the bag and retrieved a white cylindrical treat almost the size of a tennis ball from the package. “But, have you ever seen them this size?” “Whoa, that’s amazing!” Leandra rushed forward, one hand outstretched. “Candy makes it all better, just like when we were kids.” Owen laug...

Tuesday Tales takes you to Blue Ink - Embryo

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday! It's time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week we had a choice of two word prompts " camera " or " noisy . I chose " camera ". Now, please meet this new installment in the Blue Ink series of demon stories. This creepy WIP,  Blue Ink - Embryo,  begins now with these 366 words.   “Do you have the web cam connected to your computer?” “I think so. This technology confuses me. How come I need to use this web cam instead of taking pictures with my camera and just email the images to you?” “Because, darling, I want to see you in real time. Don’t you want to please me?” “Of course I do! It’s just that…well…I really want to see you in person. We’ve been talking for weeks now.” “I told you, dearest, work has me on the road traveling so much, I haven’t had time. I’m working so much now to give me a long break soon. You know who I’ll be spending this long break with, don’t you?” “Me?” “Of course,...

Bigfoot is in The Locker for Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to the second in my Critter Getter series, WIP,  Finding Love and Bigfoot.    I present the word prompt, " green ": "Leandra perched once again with her laptop investigating her new obsession- Bigfoot. “Did you know there have been sightings all over the country?” She asked Kalista, while chomping on a green apple candy rod. “Owen was right, the only place not having a sighting is Hawaii.” “Old-fashioned stick candy, huh? What gives…where’s your stash?” Kalista demanded, her focus obviously toward something sweeter than internet surfing. “Got a root beer one?” She rooted around in a kitchen drawer. “All that’s in here is miscellaneous receipts, some take out menus, and random batteries.” “Nope, they are in the cabinet, behind the ramen noodles. I figured they would be safe there since you rarely eat those.” Leandra jokingly gave up her hiding spot. ...

Tuesday Tales and Creepy Spiders

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to my new young adult paranormal SEQUEL WIP,  Blue Ink- Jerky.   Joelle and CSI McKinney enjoy a day on the ice rink, until a spider gets in the way. “Wylder, I haven’t been ice skating in years. What a wonderful idea!” Joelle tightened the laces one last time on her rental skates. “Now, I hope I don’t fall and bust my fanny.” “You’ll do great, Jo. Hold onto the side rails and take your time. You’ll be slicing across the ice like a pro before you know it.” Joelle stood on the thin blades, her ankles wobbling with every step across the red carpeted area toward the ice rink. “I think I need to do more yoga, my ankles are so weak. That’s what my office job has done to me all these years.” “We can do that too.” Wylder squeezed her hand lovingly, tightening his grip to steady her. “You would go to yoga with me, CSI McKinney?” ...

Review Time! American Goddesses by Gary Henry

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to The Locker for book review time once again.   Today, it’s all about American Goddesses by Gary Henry.     Gary is an author, reviewer, ultra-marathoner, and lover of women. Please visit his book review site Honest Indie Book Reviews ~ http://honestindiebookreviews.wordpress.com/ I give this unique novel 3.5 snowflakes. Overall, I enjoyed this super hero tale of women saving the day. I found the storyline engaging and intriguing. Other than a few housekeeping errors, i.e. one minor character’s name and a city changing spellings in a couple of instances and couple slight grammatical issues, this book is worth the time and money to read. Gary begins with the notion that any of us average ordinary women could become a superhero with infinite powers. It pushed my mind into overdrive with what powers I could envision myself with. The escapism from this fantasy was good when ...

A Last Visit to Blue Ink - Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you back one last time to my young adult paranormal thriller WIP, Blue Ink- The Skin Stalker. This book is now 99% finished and the excitement is taking me over! Soon, I will submit for publishing consideration, so, please wish me luck.  For this week's word prompt, we use " package ", very appropriate for a book about a killer, don't you think?   "When Colin returned from the run, The Skin Stalker was still in the same location.   He noticed Colin look around, as if he felt The Skin Stalker’s presence.   The Skin Stalker smiled and knew he rattled Colin’s steely reserve.   Could he already know Maggie’s fate?   Colin was such a self-centered person. The Skin Stalker knew that not even Maggie’s death would interfere with his daily activities-therefore, he imposed the foul tasting reminder for the next day or so.   If anything, The Skin Sta...

Keep the Demon "Silent" - Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you back to my young adult paranormal thriller WIP,  Blue Ink- The Skin Stalker.   This book is now 3/4 finished and the excitement is taking me over! For this week's word prompt, we use " silent ", very appropriate for a book about a killer, don't you think? "Colin sat silent. He had no response, except he needed to know about Hannah so he could protect Joelle.   He knew no one believed his innocence and he completely understood why.   “You have to protect Joelle, she is in danger, I don’t know why, I just know she is!”   Colin had to make the lieutenant understand.   “You don’t need to convince me, and we are making sure she is safe, so, no one, not even you, will get to her.”   The lieutenant emphasized the “you”. Colin then remembered his spunky assistant and how she now lie cold. “Where did you find Hannah?” ...

Do Demons Vote? A Blue Ink "Election" Tuesday Tale

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you again to my new paranormal thriller WIP,  Blue Ink-the Skin Stalker -    For our journey to the unknown, I present the word prompt "election". Colin needed physical interaction to ease his mental trauma and right now, his stress meter was off the charts.   Melanie would be perfect.   He watched her pert breasts through her v-neck shirt, sweat beading underneath his hairline. Stop.   Get up.   Leave.   You are a murder magnet and some psychopath is tailing you.   It is not all about you, stupid arrogant asshole.   Colin ran through all the scenarios in his head and each one ended the same way.   Melanie folded into an equipment bag.   Then, on an autopsy slab.   He needed to move away from her, now.   “Hey, thanks for the coffee and the concern.   I just need to get home and sort some thi...

Do You Believe in Ghosts? Tuesday Tale

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you again to my new paranormal thriller WIP,  Blue Ink-the Skin Stalker -    For our journey to the unknown, I present the word prompt "ghost". “What the hell?” Sascha’s mate uttered fearfully. “It’s just the wind, Maria. Go back to sleep.” Sascha urged as she rubbed her lover’s shoulders. “Why am I burning? Look at these spots on my stomach.” Maria bent forward to examine herself. “The wind didn’t do this.” “I’ve got them too. Maybe they are spider bites?” Sascha offered disdainfully. “I’ve had spider bites, this is not the same thing. These are burns, like someone dropped acid or hot coals on us.” “I’ll go check out the living room.” Sascha exited the bed, pulling a shirt over her head. “I’m going too.” Maria got up and together they crept toward their bedroom door. Sascha grabbed the doorknob and reluctantly began turning it before a fo...

a Knife?...Searching for Bigfoot Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you a new paranormal WIP,  Finding Love and Bigfoot - a part of my Critter Getter series.   For our journey to the unknown, I present the word prompt "knife".   “There is no way you just said… bigfoot .” Kalista said solemnly, almost under her breath, still inspecting the muddied, bloody smudges all over her car window. “You wouldn’t get a crazier response from me if you had come at me with a knife.”   “Yes, I did, Kalista, and I’m not joking.” Caleb said just as earnestly, admiring the evidence all over the glass. “By the way, I’m not the violent type. The only knife I use is a fillet knife on the catfish.” “I know tracking bigfoot is a big part of your business, and I’m sure tourists pay good money for a spooky thrill, but, seriously, you can be truthful with me. Your secret is safe.” Owen interjected into the conversation, his eyes da...

Is It His Finger or Not? Tuesday Tales return to Blue Ink

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you back to my current paranormal WIP, Blue Ink-The Skin Stalker. For our journey to the unknown, I present the word prompt "finger". “They arrived at the police station before Colin drew any conclusions of his own.   Colin followed the officers inside and they seated him at a table in a small windowless room. The Skin Stalker watched everything unfold with a glint in his wicked catlike eye.   He knew the bag had no finger prints because he had none to leave.   Before he left the bag, he briefly thought of lifting one of Colin’s prints to place on it just to screw with him.   However, it was just as much fun to mess with the authorities as they feebly bumbled around trying to catch the “bad guy.”   Chaos kept The Skin Stalker churning with amusement. Colin remained in that room for two hours before anyone got back to speak with him. ...

Demise on Top of a Mountain...Blue Ink-Tuesday Tales

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I return to my current demonic, paranormal thriller, Blue Ink: The Skin Stalker for our journey to the top...I present-  " mountain ". "The Skin Stalker reached his destination, Echo Mountain .   He willed his evil connection to the underworld to transport him and his sacrifice, Hannah, to the top.   He held her loosely in his arms, as if her virtue burned his vile leathery skin.   Her head hung gracelessly backward toward the ground. The wind rushed through her long hair, blowing it around her face and across her delicate features- now relaxed in the throes of death.   The end of mortal Hannah happened on the top of Echo Mountain. The Skin Stalker roared viciously as Hannah took a final breath and released it noiselessly.   Yet, in death, she smiled, confusing the demon monster known as Skin Stalker.   Her body no longer a heavy weight, i...
