Tuesday Tales - Take a BITE Out of This

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy May 21st! It's time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to a new installment in my YA series WIP,  Finding Love and Bigfoot.    We Tuesday Tales Authors take on the word prompt "bite": "The others would be displeased if they knew of his unnatural interest in this other animal, especially a human. Those who would hurt, torture, or kill them, in the name of some superior curiosity- most other species were their natural enemies. Therefore, the Sasquatch breed lived in small pods, disguising their nests and existence in uncanny ways derived from centuries of adaptations.   Living in the hidden caves of the ridge worked successfully for he and his small group for several decades. Suddenly, another adult appeared, with a forceful grunt, she dropped a long strap of desiccated meat onto his chest. She left without another sound or inclination, cognizant of his dominance, although displaying her interest ...

Tuesday Tales and Sand...Did Someone Say Beach?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you  to my new Christmas romance WIP,  Snowballs Not Beach Balls.    I present the word prompt, " sand ": "The surf splashed against the rocks, the white caps a sharp contrast to the dark gray water. Muted light filtered through a hazy sky, preparing for the sunrise. Janie Coupler sat on the Hawaiian sand, gripping a mug of steaming coffee. “How did a snow bunny become a beach bum?” She spoke softly against the loudly splashing waves. Vague memories of days past in freezing temperatures, snowmen, and hot cocoa bombarded her reality, making her homesick for something she never really understood. Leaving the mountains shortly before adolescence, could it really have made that much impact on her happiness? Janie recollected the excitement of her father’s job transfer to Hawaii. Wide-eyed, all she could recall thinking was, we’re moving to Hawaii , in eag...

Image
Book Review    ***1/2 Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Today in The Locker is another book review. I take time to read on occasion to hone my skills and connect with readers and other authors. I gave a mature romance a go this time. Dating a Cougar by Donna McDonald – the Never Too Late series This 262 page read-in-a-day book is the first I’ve read by Donna McDonald. (More About Donna) When I saw this book listed as a free read, I decided to read Ms. McDonald’s bio and get a better understanding of who this author is. After I read her background as a technical writer and college instructor, encouraged by her potential writing skills, I downloaded the book and gave it a chance. Ms. McDonald’s succinct writing style did not disappoint me. I like descriptors, good scene/character development, and closing a scene. She did a very good job of each of those. I noticed several proofing errors and one possible error in chapter eighteen when I thought the characters awakened to ...
