Tuesday Tales, It's Getting Crazy Wavy Up In Here
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week's Tuesday Tales prompt is the word "wavy". Please see how I use "wavy" in my new WIP YA paranormal romance, Finding Love in a Black Lagoon- Book 3 in the Critter Getter series.
“It was a dang bird nest in there!” Kalista breathed a sigh
of relief, and almost collapsed into laughter.

A violent shudder rustled the water and the weeds, splashing
up from the surface. Fat droplets sprayed outward, hitting Caleb in the face. More
determined than ever, Caleb plunged the stick further into the center. “Get out
of there and show yourself!” He gritted his teeth and stood his ground.
Suddenly, the water reeds parted and another heron flew out
from the center, its wings flapped and it swished the tall, wavy weeds around.
Caleb reflexively jumped and dropped the stick. Owen remained still, but, his
head jerked slightly backward and cocked to one side. The girls shrieked almost
in unison.
Caleb dropped his head backward. “I can’t stinking believe
it, a darn bird.”
“I didn’t think we’d have it that easy, that some water
creature would show up and crawl to us in surrender.” Owen looked across the
lake and watched the angry bird fly away. “I say we hike around and see what
else we can find. This mud might be a good clue, especially if we don’t see it
anywhere else.”
They walked for a few hours, investigating the many inlets,
twists, and turns of the lake shore. They saw wood ducks, frogs, and turtles.
However, the heavily treed, mossy surroundings made it difficult to really get
a good view of the lake itself. “That’s why it’s called the invisible lake,”
Caleb offered during one short rest break. “From the research I’ve done, we
really need to get in a boat out there for a proper view.”
“Yea, but, these bald cypress trees are something else.”
Owen admired a tall tree draped with hit and miss mantles of Spanish moss. “Really
adds the Scooby Doo to this whole investigation.”
