Tuesday Tales are Evil...Really?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the simple sounding word- evil.    This will be the last installment f ro m Heart Nectar, a new WIP for a new series please see my interpretation. ! “I'd never do anything evil to you.” Rubbing his hands together, George kept looking at Mindie, his eyes pleading, asking for chances to be her everything. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Stupid question, her reaction, this situation, everything told her why. How could she ignore the sincerity of his love coming through each motion of body language? “Well, I mean, I know why you didn’t tell me, but, I’m still not sure how to take it.” “I only wanted an honest beginning, nothing complicated, no strings, no reason for you to doubt my feelings for you have nothing to do with business. I’m asking you to trust me, no matter how difficult it may be.” Staring at a spot on the floor, she refused to look into his eyes. All resolve disappeared when she gazed into h...

Tuesday Tales, I'll Take a Cup of That

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the simple sounding word- cup.    Fro m Heart Nectar , a new WIP for a new series please see my interpretation. “Hey, beautiful, what time should I pick you up tonight?” Overthinking the question, every syllable took on some kind of hidden meaning. Key words pinged off a word meter in her brain. Hey, generally meant casual, but, why should he be casual, he’d seen her areola up close and personal. Did he really mean beautiful, as in the most glorious sight he’d ever seen. Don’t even get started on the should I pick you up tonight, was this some kind of menial hook-up, some weird means to an end? “I don’t know, whatever time works for you.” “I didn’t know how long it takes for you to get ready between work and home. You might want more time than I’m willing to wait.” “I’d take my wine in a coffee cup, I’m not some kind of snob. It doesn’t take me hours to get ready for some simple night out.” Why the hel...

Tuesday Tales and I'm Starving!

Image
Welcome to our visual Tuesday Tales, this post made me hungry every time I saw the picture prompt. It was easy to develop 300 words about this culinary masterpiece, enjoy....now, I'm gonna go find some food. “I’m starving, whatever you have going smells absolutely bomb.” Nixie paced next to the table, having already placed their plates and silverware. “How much longer is it gonna be? Dammit, I need sustenance.” “You’re gonna have a stroke someday if you don’t control your impatience.” “I just might murder someone.” Lowering her voice, her words still lacked the necessary sinister tone to make them believable. “I’m sorry I haven’t been more open with you lately.” Mindie’s apology floated from the kitchen within a cloud of sincerity meant to soothe Nixie’s savage disposition. “What’s that, I couldn’t hear you?” Mindie entered the dining room, hot dish in hand. “You heard me, I know you did. You’ve got the ears of a bionic woman.” Presenting their supper with flare...

Tuesday Tales Heart of Glass

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the ominous sounding word- Glass.    Fro m Heart Nectar , a new WIP for a new series please see my interpretation. “I can’t wait for the day we actually use crystal instead of glass.” “I know what you mean, I think.” Carolyn didn’t always understand Nixie’s perspective. Her best friend kept her on her toes in that department. It was probably a good thing, since Carolyn could sometimes be the hopeless romantic. Nixie kept her grounded. “The day we’re all famous, and everyone wants our wines, like some of the finest Napa or Sonoma brands. I don’t mean I want to get rid of these.” Holding up an etched glass reading Heart Nectar on the side, with their unique artistic logo next to it. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you turn all uppity or anything. I’ll knock your ass back down to reality when you need it.” “Thank you for your generosity. I knew I could count on you.” Trying to giggle was like swallowing...

Tuesday Tales- Not One for a Grim Heart

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the ominous sounding word- GRIM.    Fro m Heart Nectar , a new WIP for a new series please see my interpretation.   Never had anything made his heart so grim. Could she really turn away, never seeing him again? George had to convince her otherwise. "You are a woman who feels deeply. You aren't skeptical, logical, or doubtful, instead you fight for the possibilities.   “I'd rather have someone like you in my life, then anyone without a sense of fantasy. Until now, I'd never really wanted to take the time to stop Charles. I'd always accepted him for the asshole he was.” His voice lowered, cracking in desperation. “Now that he hurt you, I couldn't stand for it to go on another day." The darkness shadowed on Carolyn’s minor facial expressions. Yet, he could see everything from her soul. They should put everything behind them where the negative belonged. "Unfortunately, I believe e...

Tuesday Tales, What a Gorgeous Moon

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the intensely striking photo of the moon. I think of harvest moon when I see such splendor. We only get 300 words to grab your attention and bring you into the world we're writing from.   Fro m Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. “You’re one giant leap for me in a world full of my small steps.” There’s no way she could ignore such a plea. He was as genuine as Charles was deceitful. Not cut from the same cloth, only sharing a few threads of DNA didn’t make this man the same conniving scum who’d invaded her home and body with such treachery. George exuded sorrow for actions he hadn’t even taken. Her fingers yearned to touch his hair, pulling him in closely, as if she’d never get another chance. “The moon is romanticizing your words.” “Don’t blame anything on this setting, although it’s perfect.” The secluded winery nestled securely among vines much older than her twenty-something y...

Tuesday Tales - Do You Have a Hardy Heart?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, hardy. Fro m Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. Her cell phone ringing interrupted Carolyn’s respite. Only Nixie knew where she was, and wouldn’t call- probably not even if an emergency had her panicked. Looking at the number, she immediately saw George’s name, and she blanched. Not even declining the call, she let it ring till it stopped, debating on turning the damn thing off. What happened to the days of landlines and the ability to disappear without interruption? He called again three more times before stopping. Her heart dropped each time he reached out. What would she say exactly?  I’m sorry, I made out with your brother before he felt me up. I couldn’t tell the difference, so…sorry. How ridiculous was the way she berated herself. She’d never been so self-deprecating and it pissed her off. A text message then appeared before she threw her phone behind the bed. ...

Tuesday Tales, Where Does Love Bloom?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, bloom. Fro m Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. The girls placed new tablecloths on a few tables in the tasting room. Rich color accentuated the wood plank walls. Their business already looked like something from a wine cellar. Expanding upon the current theme should be simple enough. However the girls had plenty to talk with Brent about regarding his suggestions and what could be done in their planned renovations. With the closed sign displayed for a few hours, the girls focused on the questions they had for Brent, prepped a few of their favorite food items, and set a few bottles of wine out for him to choose from. Nixie suddenly stopped, giving Carolyn a befuddled look. “Do grapes actually bloom?” A knock sounded on their front door, interrupting her reply. “Look, you really are nervous, you can’t even remember about our prime ingredient. That’s your queue. Why don’t you go l...

Tuesday Tales, the Eye of the Tiger...

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, Tiger. Fro m Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. "Who needs a tiger when we have a cougar?" Nixie wrinkled her nose never taking her eyes off the beautiful woman and her obviously younger companion. “What am I doing wrong?” “You aren’t wrong, absolutely nothing is wrong with you. Will you be easier on my poor best friend?” Carolyn snacked on popcorn, staring into the tiger enclosure. “You had a great idea to come to the zoo, it’s been way too long. I guess I’ve been way too stressed out.” “Nothing like childhood to bring a smile, huh?” Finally turning around away from the snuggling couple, she snagged a few pieces of popcorn from Carolyn’s bucket. “Today, we don’t think about men, wine, money, business, or being an adult. We pretend we are young again, when these creatures fascinated us.” “We are supposed to not think about men when you just described them perfectly? Yo...

Tuesday Tales is Stiff!

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, flexible. Fro m Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. “So, how are the numbers looking?” Anxiously sitting on the front of the chair seat, Carolyn leaned forward practically against the accountant’s desk. “No pressure, but, we’ve got some plans.” Placing her hand against Carolyn’s bicep, Nixie eased her backward. “Don’t attack the accountant. You’re so rigid, what’s wrong with your muscles?” Squeezing up and down her arm, she couldn’t find any relaxed spots. “I’m as flexible as a Barbie doll.” Shrugging off her friend’s grip, she shifted back into the chair. “I’m nervous, that’s it.” “Ladies, profits are looking good.” Smiling, she tapped the paperwork in front of her. “I don’t see why you shouldn’t apply for the business loan for renovations.” “Seriously? That’s incredible!” “Have you decided what you want to do?” The girls looked at each other, then, back to the a...

Tuesday Tales is a Stiff One

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the teasing word, stiff . So, here we go from Steal My Heart , a new WIP for a new series. “I’ve got an idea, if you’d like to hear it.” “You’re going to tell me the idea anyway. Whether I say I want to hear it or not.” Mom’s idea of dealing with life ranged from grassroots granola hippie methods to some of the most high tech advances in science. The eclectic way my mom approach life usually amused me. Today she sparked a bad nerve. “How about a self-defense course?” “You mean those classes we usually made fun of? You know the women that put themselves into helpless situations and we couldn’t figure out why they’d be doing that shit in the first place. I know to have my keys ready to unlock my car before I walk out of the store. I know to be aware of my surroundings. I know not to be in strange places after dark. Common sense trumps most of what they teach.” “Oh I’m not talking about those run-of...

Tuesday Tales Is This S$%T Getting Old?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the complex word, old . So, here we go from Heart Nectar , a new WIP for a new series. “Loneliness is getting old.” Barely audible, Nixie dropped her head, hiding her face. “I’m confused, do you mean getting older is lonely or loneliness itself is getting old?” Brant scratched his head, his eyes pleading for understanding. “I’m not trying to be dense. I truly don’t understand what you mean.” “Ugh, men, boys, anything with a glied , how do you get by every day without self-destruction? Why did I think I could talk with you about…about anything? Next time, I’ll listen to my woman’s intuition and not talk.” Pulling her hair back away from her face, she roughly tied her long hair into a ponytail. “I’ve got work to do, I really don’t have time to sit and cry. What do we owe you for the cow shit?” “Well, now you don’t have to insult me. You make it sound like something horrible when you say cow shit like that....

Tuesday Tales, Who Needs a Cozy Setup?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the cozy picture prompt below. We must capture the image in 300 words, no more, no less. So, here we go from  Heart Nectar , a current WIP. “This is my wine.” Sitting beside a warm fire, Carolyn’s insides absorbed the healing properties of the perfectly aged blend. “This is one of my first vintages.” “The color is superb.” Charles tilted the glass, admiring the legs on the side. “Excellent body as well.” Sniffing the contents, inhaling deeply, he closed his eyes. “Very nice bouquet to match, you just might have your first medal winning bottle.” “We’re so excited to be part of the competition. It’s our first big show. Of course, we’ve been in some smaller shows. Hopefully, we do well and it gets our brand some exposure.” Nervously tapping the side of her glass, she finally put it on the table. “Thank you for stopping by, I wasn’t sure if you could include me in your schedule.” “Of course I could fit you in, a lov...

Tuesday Tales and Why Suffer From Boredom?

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the humdrum word, boredom. So, here we go from  Steal My Heart , book 4 WIP from The Fantasy League series. “Since we’re being so honest, I need to ask you something.” I’d wanted to know about her secret offices forever. Finally a dating man, with a fledgling sexual drive, I wanted to branch out with my conversations with a safe friend. “Please don’t make fun of me.” Definitely not from tedium, Lola flicked her nails against the tabletop, appearing deep in thought. “I want to agree, yet, I don’t want to miss out on a great opportunity to bust your balls. You can see my dilemma.” She laughed, then took another sip of tea. “I’m kidding, dude, ask away. I’m here for you.” Pointing from her chest back my direction, clearly she wanted a challenge. “What’s in your secret office space?” Choking slightly, Lola quickly set the tea cup down on the table. “Not wasting any time are you?” “I assumed it better not to tipt...

Tuesday Tales, Worth a Giggle

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! This week our group writes to the fun word, giggle. So, here we go from Steal My Heart , book 4 WIP from The Fantasy League series. “Was it worth at least a giggle?” Lesley lowered the tiki mask from her face. “I’m sorry, preoccupied, I guess.” “Are you still worried about email girl?” I had to tell Lesley I planned to meet this mysterious person. Lola and I reached Homeland Security, but, really didn’t get anywhere. I suppose their caseload was too full to deal with wayward terrorist females who may or may not pose an actual threat. “I’ve arranged a meeting.” Tossing the island inspired mask back on the shelf, she grimaced. “Why are you encouraging this weird freak?” “Because if I don’t, this could continue forever, I want this over with. Lola promised to be there with me. “Lola as a bodyguard might not give you the protection you need.” “Like you said, it’s probably someone busting my chops, and not anything dangerous. Why ar...
