Tuesday Tales Taking the Train

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific word prompt each week. Once per month, we even write to an image.  You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds. This week our group writes to the word- train .    This will be an excerpt f ro m my new WIP for a new romance contemporary, What the Storm Didn't Take. Enjoy!~ Walking to me, dad brushed sweaty clump of hair off my four head, then kissed my cheek. "I'll be right outside in the waiting room if you need anything. You've got a good team here to help, so I'm gonna get out of their way." "Yeah right, you're just squeamish." Smiling back he needed to understand I was kidding. His smile broadened, and his eyes even got happier. "That's my girl, you know me very well." Even though I'm sure it took forever, it also seemed too soon that the labor pa...

Making a Difference - Eradicate MS

Image
I try to host a health related post each week in The Locker. I like to share my experiences in the hopes of helping someone else. I've decided to make a little turn and have a guest host for the next few weeks. My friend Brian is a beast. He cycles more miles in a year than I probably drive in my car. He has a passion for health, and shares an equal passion to eradicate MS. Please be kind to Brian and give him a warm welcome. Hugs- My name is Brian Jones. I am an avid cyclist riding to rid the world of Multiple Sclerosis. As we embark on a new year, I want to share some highlights of the South Central US chapter of the National MS Society: 9 Bike MS events raised approximately $24.7 million. 32 Walk MS events raised approximately $3.2 million. 11 leadership events raised approximately $840k. Their network of human service professionals is connecting people affected by MS to solutions that address the challenges and obstacles in their l...

Keeping the Plates Spinning Until They Crash - Just Out of My Grasp

Image
Early weekly edition of this blog regular. Good morning!   I’ve decided to use my blog not only to writing, music, and other facets of entertainment, but, also to share my journey. I’ve had significant health problems for almost two years. Initially, my rheumatologist diagnosed me with systemic lupus (SLE) on June 19, 2013. However, the medication wasn’t working and I kept getting worse and developing new symptoms. So, after second, third, and fourth opinions, my neurologist believes instead I have fibromyalgia.   In April 2014 I visited yet another rheumatologist who I hoped would be familiar with autoimmune disorders. Following an extensive intake during my initial appointment, I found a place where the doctor also listened to me. Based upon my blood work, the doctor believes I have Sjogren’s Syndrome. She also made the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and pre-lupus. I’ve never heard of pre-lupus, but, hopefully it stays in the “pre” category. Thank you for listening, ea...
