Tuesday Tales and a Picture is Worth 300 Words

Image
Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! It's time for Tuesday Tales. A group of writers gather together and give our interpretation of a specific prompt each week. Most of the time we write to a certain word. This week we write to a picture prompt. I chose the General Store.   You never know what you might encounter when you get inside our minds.  This will be an excerpt f ro m my new yet-to-be-named WIP.   The old doors begged for a fresh coat of paint for mercy against the elements. Chipping pieces of wood pressed woefully against the glass panes of old windows cushioned inside the decaying frames. How there were no cracks or breaks, I’d never know. Then again, everything was built so much better back in the day. People took loving care using their hands to forge masterpieces using only hand tools and imagination. The tornado even spared this landmark. How ironic my husband wasn’t considered untouchable from Mother...

Do Demons Vote? A Blue Ink "Election" Tuesday Tale

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you again to my new paranormal thriller WIP,  Blue Ink-the Skin Stalker -    For our journey to the unknown, I present the word prompt "election". Colin needed physical interaction to ease his mental trauma and right now, his stress meter was off the charts.   Melanie would be perfect.   He watched her pert breasts through her v-neck shirt, sweat beading underneath his hairline. Stop.   Get up.   Leave.   You are a murder magnet and some psychopath is tailing you.   It is not all about you, stupid arrogant asshole.   Colin ran through all the scenarios in his head and each one ended the same way.   Melanie folded into an equipment bag.   Then, on an autopsy slab.   He needed to move away from her, now.   “Hey, thanks for the coffee and the concern.   I just need to get home and sort some thi...

Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Happy Tuesday and time for another edition of Tuesday Tales. This week I take you to my current winter Olympic flavored romance, Black Diamond Hearts are the Most Difficult. For our journey, I present the picture prompt "champagne". "He wondered if it was all about the thought of a juicy cheeseburger, or if her long blonde locks had anything to do with it. “Cheeseburger? Are you high?”   Laurel teased Matthew with a ridiculous assumption.   “What do you mean, Miss Health Nut, you having a baked potato, broiled chicken, and salad-again?” Laurel socked Matthew in the shoulder with a padded gloved fist.   “I’m not that bad, old man , but, I am in training after all.”   She used one ski pole to snap down on the back of her bindings as she clicked her ski boots out of their tight hold.   She moved quickly, having perfected the act hundreds, if not thousands, of times.   Matthew pushed forward a sho...

Tuesday Tales-Black Diamond Hearts are the Most Difficult

Image
Tuesday Tales Welcome Fellow Fathomers to this weeks' edition of Tuesday Tales. A group of writers getting together to share their WIP on a common theme. The theme for today is baseball... take a look at my contribution: "The drought left the pasture as dusty, dirt colored cement.   Huge cracks revealing a depth of at least a couple of feet spread here and there across the barren surface.   However, Matthew Hughes would be successful, no matter the difficulty, as he prepared for his grim mission.   He looked out upon the barren meadow and blinked back a few tears. He normally enjoyed his visits back to the family ranch in Oklahoma. Although, Matthew’s parents raised him in the grandeur of the Rockies-granola hippies who loved the crisp smell of the evergreens and bluebird days on the fluffy slopes of snow.   He enjoyed the best of both worlds as his grandparents and various aunts and uncles lived in Oklahoma from birth on. They maintained the famil...
