Saturday Sippers in The Locker Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to the feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. Each week I’ll post a new, sometimes, skinny cocktail recipe for you to try. Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J Getting close to Halloween, hay rides, and bonfires!   Here’s a drink to warm your tummy and bring that glow to your eyes. FIRE GLOW! Ingredients ½ ounce spiced syrup* ½ ounce orange liqueur 2 ounces bourbon Lemon slices and twist for garnish Combine first three ingredients, stir, and strain over ice into glass. Stir and garnish with lemon slices and twist. *Spiced syrup: Mix equal parts water and sugar. Add clove and cinnamon. Place in airtight container to infuse the syrup with flavor. 194 Calories per serving

Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J Hard to believe, but, here in Texas, we are still hitting 100 degrees in September. A frozen drink is still in order and tequila is good ANY time of the year. FROZEN LIME MARGARITAS! Ingredients 12 ounce can frozen limeade 2/3 cup tequila 1 ½ cup orange liqueur 4 cups ice cubes ½ lime Coarse salt Cocktail cherry for garnish Prepare margarita glasses by using a thick slice of lime to rub the rim of each glass. Invert glass into a dish of coarse salt to coat rim. Blend ingredients.   Add ice cubes and blend until mixture becomes slushy. Garnish with cocktail cherry. Serves 10 122 Calories per serving

Saturday Sippers in The Locker Ahoy Fellow Fathomers! Welcome to the feature here in The Locker called Saturday Sippers. Each week I’ll post a new, sometimes, skinny cocktail recipe for you to try. Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J Today’s drink features an ingredient called Aperol, something I was not familiar with. However, thanks to our friends at Google, I found the origin of this yummy sounding aperitif. It is bright orange in color with a zesty, bittersweet taste. A perfect ingredient for summer refreshments, this Italian import is a product of the Campari Company. VESPER! Ingredients 1 ounce vodka 1 ounce gin 1 ounce Aperol Lemon twist for garnish Stir all ingredients with ice.   Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with lemon twist. 250 Calories Grazie!

Ingredients 1 ½ Oz Gin 1 ounce lemon juice 2 T sugar Club soda Lemon slice for garnish Directions Mix gin, lemon juice, and sugar in a glass. Add club soda to taste. Add ice cubes. Garnish each with a lemon slice.

Does this mean I get to celebrate both weekends, as the timing is equitable? I say Yes! To properly recognize such a monumental event as a birthday, I present my top ten favorite drinks. Some of these are alcohol free because I can’t be blotto all the time. Many thinks to my Cali Bestie, Rhonda, for providing me with the deck of cards recipe book. J Rosemary…one of the most pungent, popular herbs. I have two wonderful bushes of rosemary growing just outside my front door. I love the smell after a fresh rain or the wind blows, releasing the aroma throughout the air. This drink sounded absolutely delightful, (even without the alcohol) combining several of my favorite items. ROSEMARY-INFUSED CUCUMBER LEMONADE! 3 large cucumbers 1 T chopped fresh rosemary, plus 4 sprigs for garnish 1 c water ½ c lemon juice 3 T agave syrup Cucumber slices for garnish Cut 12 thin slices of cucumber for garnish. Peel and chop remaining cucumber. Puree rosemary and chopped cucumber. Pour the puree through a fine mesh strainer. Add water, lemon juice, and a...
